Armadillo

A couple of years back, I looked out of my patio door and saw an armadillo rooting up my grass. He was right next to the dog fence and they were digging at the ground and barking like mad just inches from his head. Well, no one ever said that armadillos were smart. He ignored the dogs and kept on tearing up my new St. Augustine grass that I had just put out. I went running out there hollering like a banshee but he ignored me too! So I looked around and grabbed the closest thing that I could find which was my back porch broom. It was one of those brooms with a light metal broomhandle. I whacked that armadillo good! Well he just moved over about 2 feet and kept on rooting. I had to let the dogs out to run him off. We still have that broom and it is still bent in the shape of the back of an armadillo. This fine specimen is about 13" long.
