Jackalope

The legendary end elusive Jackalope lives in infamy. Recorded history of the jackalope began when the Spanish caballeros were forced to add tall leather flaps to their shoes (thus the birth of the modern cowboy boot) as protection against the attacks of the ankles and lower shins inflicked by the angry buck jackalope found in far northern Mexico (now known as Texas). Many a Spanish cuss word was breathed trying to rid the new world of this pesky creature. The males are known to be vicious in protecting their territory against all beasts large and small. The longhorn that became famous in Texas owed their success not to their big horns, but to their hard, bony ankles which were impervious to the charge of the jackalope. The buffalo were driven from the lush prairies of Texas to the cold plains of the Dakotas by this mean tempered varmit. Still roaming the wild places of remote Texas, the jackalope lives on, securing its place on the walls of finer dining establishments throughout the Lone Star State.
